MYRO vs byHumankind

Top deodorant subscriptions:

The personal care industry generates $500 billion per year globally; they also rely mainly on plastic to house almost every single one of their products. That’s a lot of plastic.

There are a few companies out there trying to activly reduct the amount of waste for every customer. I’ve tried a few low-waste deodorants but for my sweaty self, the DIYs and small batch natural deodorants just don’t do the job for me. But I tried out a few name brands so you don’t have to! Here’s my take.

MYRO

A refillable, lock tight case with refills in fully recyclable plastic. This formula glides on smooth and dries clear.

Pros:

  • Widely Available at big box stores like Target and Urban Outfitters.
  • Lots of different colors and scents to choose from.

Cons:

  • I’ve had the formula leak out on me, on more than one occasion.

Humankind

A refillable, lock tight case with refills in compostable cardboard. A formula that gives me a nostalgic feeling from my tween days of Teen Spirit.

Pros:

  • No plastic ‘single-use’ packaging.
  • Transparent and natural ingredients.
  • Comes with other bathroom items in automatic monthly shipments.

Cons:

  • Not widely available – only sold online.
  • Selective options for color and scents.
